(Gayfeather) [2 ft.]Sturdy, ompact plant with rose-lavender wand-like flowers. They are unique in theat the flower spike opens from the top down. This is the earliest to bloom in the summer in the Liatris family.

(Perennial Flax) [16”] Pretty blue flowers on grass-like stems that work as a ‘weaver’ in your garden. You often see Perennial Flax planted in wildflower mixes or in highway plantings because it is easy to grow and doesn’t require much care. An unusual characteristic is that the blooms last only one day, opening in the morning, just after you have your coffee, and then fall off by evening supper. It keeps sending out blooms for weeks. Always attracts attention in our gardens. Zone 5.

[24"] A very colorful new plant with bronze foliage and scarlet flowers. Vigorous branching habit means that it fills out the selected garden spot within the first growing season. Our trial plants in 2001 bloomed from July until October.

(Maltese Cross) [24”] Fiery red bloom clusters are masses of tiny individual cross-shaped flowers. Blooms for 8 + weeks in June through August. We have a group of these in our half-shade garden that always attracts many comments when they are in bloom. A long-lived variety and an old-fashioned favorite. Zone 3 – 9.
